Beta has always had a strong tradition when it comes to social events with sororities. Over the past two semesters alone, the Delta Pi chapter has participated in over 4 different social events. For those who may not be aware of what a social is, it is when a fraternity and a sorority exclusively have an event with one another without alcohol, regardless if your of the drinking age, and usually has a theme associated with it. Some of the recent themes included an Italian Wedding, Jersey Shore, The 90's, 5 Dollar Prom, and Casino night.
With every new year, brings pledge classes of new Greek men and women who have yet to meet each other. Therefore, a social is a great way for current members of one organization to meet the new members of another organization. The real challenge is trying to find new themes year in and year out to keep the sororities interested. With only 6 sororities and the recent addition of our fourteenth fraternity on our campus, the competition to obtain a social grows even stronger. But by looking at our history with these sororities, coupled with our growing momentum as a lead fraternity on campus and list of new social ideas, I feel that we will once again beat the odds and obtain a few more socials by the end of the year.
