Karaoke for the Cure 2011 PDF Print E-mail

Click the picture to go the the Facebook event page                           It is Karaoke Time!

Karaoke for the Cure is a Beta Theta Pi event raising money for the American Cancer Society, earmarking it for breast cancer research in Kentucky. This event is operated in conjunction with Relay for Life at the University of Louisville.

This is the 3rd annual Karaoke with the first starting in 2009. Beta Theta Pi Brother Dillon Miles’ mother came down with breast cancer and he felt he needed to help out. He enlisted the help of his brothers of Beta Theta Pi and put together the 1st Karaoke to raise money for breast cancer research.

The event takes place at a bar/pub and guests can pay to sing, and all the sales for the evening go to the cause as well. Corporate sponsors supporting the event will ensure even more funds will go to supporting this worthy cause.

This year’s event will be better than ever. We plan to include karaoke competitions between organizations recruited in advance, a silent auction, and a broader community involvement.

Karaoke for the Cure is not just a fund raiser; it is a unique activity that offers an opportunity to take up the fight.

IM Success PDF Print E-mail

Congratulations are In store for our Dodge ball A-team. This past week the team defeated Sigma Chi for this years dodge ball championship. Our fraternity has had remarkable success in this event, which only became an Intramural event last year. In these two years we have now been the runners up one year and the champion the next.

Louisville Beta's soccer team also finished their season this week. Going into the year with low expectations the team managed to defeat Phi Tau in the first round of the playoffs. While the team was defeated in the next round by SAE , the team's overall success greatly helped the chapters goal of placing in the top 5 in IM points this year.

The chapter is currently in 4th place overall and is working hard to move up the standings. The recent events have helped give us cushion space from the 5th place fraternity. There are only two sports left in IMs this year and Beta plans to fight hard in both of them.

Delta Pi Wins Awards at Convention PDF Print E-mail

The Delta Pi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi at Louisville took home a couple of big awards at this weekend's Beta Theta Pi Convention in Washington, DC! Our housemother Barbara Ausick won the much-deserved Housemother of the Year Award for her tireless efforts to help improve our chapter, including founding our Parents' Association and generously giving her time and resources to help with renovations on the chapter house. Congratulations, Barbara, and thank you again for all of your work for the chapter!

Delta Pi also received the Most Improved Chapter Award. Over the last few years we have doubled our chapter size, moved in to our on-campus chapter house, become a mainstay in the top-3 GPAs among fraternities, started our annual philanthropy event Karaoke for the Cure that benefits the James Graham Brown Center for breast cancer research, and so much more. We are honored to have received this award from our fraternity; it shows how much hard work our brothers have put in to make our chapter one of the best on campus and nationwide.

Congratulations again to Barbara Ausick and Delta Pi for your recognition at Convention, you earned it!
